Exploring distance with Inspire Pro. Mobile Illustration remains my favorite thing to do in my free time (which is rare). I love listening to Film Scores from various composers on Pandora while painting. I’m still experimenting with the Inspire toolset and getting used to what I can do with the program. I’ve made it a priority to list features and bugs I come up with to supply feedback for KiwiPixel (creators of Inspire Pro). This journey is taking me on a path toward traditional illustration. Whatever that brings out in the future will be awesome. I think I may just...

Pulled this one up from a portfolio post last year. I remember having fun with character creation while doing a book last year for children’s music. I was inspired from this one song called Spider Hunter. There are some images in my portfolio section illustrating this guy in the song. This was the initial concept for the spider…don’t really understand what the slime is for tho. hmmm…Anyway, check out the song illustrations below. Spider Hunter : 1 |...

Man it’s been busy the past few weeks, I’ve lost track of things a tiny bit. Here is Chapter 2 of the Moonlight series (or Sonata) from Beethoven. I wanted to express interest within the center of this composition. My main goal was to experiment with eye movement, which I think is achieved…but at a closer glance, I seem to have positioned things a bit too horizontally, so I may have not achieved what I truly wanted. I love Inspire Pro, but sometimes I wish they had layers! haha…I’m still in an exploration phase of content vs. color. Slowly working...

The Sonata, Chapter 1, is the first illustration in a series of Mobile Illustrations to capture Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor ”Quasi una fantasia”. I really like to let the music create the painting, and not my thoughts. This is a really cool exercise of listening inspiration. I am in no position to explain the story behind this series…I’m just letting the music control my brush. I do want to make one form of conscious decision tho, I am making all of these in this series black and white. Finding a way...

I’m really excited to get into illustration on the iPad! This was created through a series of early morning breakfasts one week before work. I’m still getting used to the brushes, as well as not having the luxury of a Wacom tablet with pressure sensitivity. I am looking forward to more depth and better use of color when I have the tools mastered. One thing I really like about illustration on a mobile device is the subtraction of tools, with the added comfort of mobility! Bringing my iPad with me to where I’m the most creative is so rewarding! Like a traditional...
